Private or Public Tree?

Regulations for privately owned trees and "street trees" are different. To find out which regulations apply, first identify your property boundaries. If the tree is fully or partially in the right of way, the tree is considered a street tree. Property owners are responsible for the maintenance and health of street trees adjacent to their property.
