Wastewater Maintenance

The goal of the maintenance department is to ensure the equipment is maintained and repaired as necessary in the facility and at the pump stations through the use of a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).

Maintenance is responsible for equipment at the plant and 13 pump stations.  The main types of equipment are: pumps and motors ranging from 2 hp to 400 hp, associated controls to turn pumps on/off or adjust the speed of pumps, and safety controls in case of failures.  Other equipment includes:  mixers and aerators, compressors, ultraviolet disinfection system, and tools necessary for maintenance of equipment.

Preventive maintenance is scheduled and performed based on each equipment manufacturer's recommendations, which is entered into the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to automatically generate work orders.  All corrective maintenance is performed as needed and then logged in the CMMS.  This allows us to track repairs to equipment and then schedule when to rebuild or replace out-dated or worn out equipment before we have a failure.
