Burn Ban set for Yamhill County and portions of Polk County due to Forecasted Unseasonable Hot Temperatures
The Yamhill County Fire Defense Board, in cooperation with the Oregon Department of Forestry Northwest Oregon Area District, will enact a Burn Ban within Yamhill County effective this Thursday May 9th 2019 at 12:01am until Sunday May 12th at 11:59pm. All fire jurisdictions will ban outdoor burning within their Yamhill County jurisdictions, including areas in Polk County served by Amity, Dayton, Sheridan, and West Valley Fire Districts. The Burn Ban covers all burning including, but not limited to, the following situations:
1. Individuals normally allowed to backyard burn.
2. Individuals normally allowed to burn agricultural waste.
3. Individuals with a Hardship Permit issued by DEQ.
NO BURN PILES/BURN BARRELS TO BURN YARD DEBRIS. NO AGRICULTURAL BURNING. NO BONFIRES.
The Burn Ban does not include recreational burning (backyard / outdoor fire pits). Individuals intending to burn in this manner should always exercise caution with fire sources.
Fire pits less than 2' tall and 3' in diameter are still permitted, as are BBQs.
Individuals found burning during the burn ban may be issued a citation and/or found liable for any property loss damage and suppression costs resulting from a burning incident.
